  In the Class Room...

Here's some cool indoor games that your chapter will have fun playing!

   Annie, Annie Armstrong...

Play the Classic game, Annie, Annie Over
(renamed Annie, Annie Armstrong)

Items Needed:
  • Players, four or more
  • Large, soft playground ball
  • Building or shed *

*Note: Alternately, you can use some other sort of barrier, such as a sheet or blanket thrown over a clothesline.

Summary:
Players will form two teams on opposite sides of the barrier. Players throw the ball over the barrier for the other team to catch. If the ball is caught, the player who catches the ball sneaks around the barrier to throw the ball, tagging an opposing player. That player then joins the tagger’s team.

Goal:

The goal is to have all players on one team.

Setup:

  1. Form two teams.
  2. Place teams on opposite sides of the barrier, so they cannot see each other.
  3. The team with the youngest player will throw the ball over the barrier first.
  1. The team with the ball will call out “Annie, Annie Armstrong!” and throw the ball over the barrier.
  2. The opposing team will try to catch the ball. If they don’t, they must call out “Annie, Annie Armstrong!” and throw it back.
  3. A player who catches the ball will sneak around to the other side and try to hit an opposing team member with the ball. Whomever they hit becomes a part of the opposing team.
  4. The team who lost a member throws next.

To Win:
Play continues until one team has all the players.

   Battle of Knowledge...

Game of wits, skill and good aim. (Team play)

What You'll Need:

  • Masking tape
  • Small bean bag or rolled-up sock
  • 1 piece of red construction paper
  • 1 piece of black construction paper
  • 16 review questions

Preparation:
Before class, create 16 review questions. Cut out eight red circles and eight black circles. Take the masking tape and create a sixteen-sectioned grid on the floor. The grid should be four sections wide by four sections deep. Each section should be equal in size. Divide the children up into two teams

What you will do:
To win the game, you must get four circles in a row for your team. Taking turn
If the throwing team answers the question correctly, they get to put one of their circles in that square. If the throwing team answers incorrectly, the other team gets a chance to answer the same question. If the other team answers correctly, they get to put one of their circles in the square. Once a circle is in a square, it cannot be removed. Members of each teams can work together to answer the question, but each team member must take a turn throwing the beanbag or sock. If neither team gets four in a row, the game is a draw.
